Domaines et Vins de Propriété - Bourgogne
ESTATE
The Domaine Bouzereau-Gruère is a family-run estate, uniting two vine-growing families: Hubert Bouzereau comes from Meursault and Marie-France Gruère from Chassagne-Montrachet. There are a number of other wine producers called Bouzereau in the commune of Meursault; they are brothers, cousins or nephews.
Hubert Bouzereau belongs to the family's 7th generation of vine-growers. In 1970 he and his wife Marie-France established their own estate, which they have gradually extended over the years. The vineyards now cover 11 hectares in 5 of the Côte de Beaune villages (Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay and Aloxe-Corton).
1/3 of the wines produced on the domaine are reds and 2/3 are whites, 80% of which are top-of-the-range wines, mainly Villages and Premiers Crus appellations, the most prestigious of which are the “Les Charmes” and “Les Genevrières”.
VINE GROWERS
The Domaine Bouzereau is established in Meursault, the capital of the fine white wines of Burgundy, and is run by Hubert and Marie-France and their two daughters, Marie-Laure and Marie-Anne, who are gradually taking over from their parents. One of the sisters is in charge of the vineyards and the other takes care of the vinification processes and the wines.
The traditions of the vine-growers' trade are held in high esteem by the whole family. Marie-Laure and Marie-Anne were rewarded for the high quality of their work when they won the Trophée des Jeunes Talents 2002 (Young Talents Trophy 2002), organised by the Jeunes Professionnels de la Vignes de Bourgogne (Young Burgundy Vine Professionals).
WINE MAKING
The grapes are harvested manually and vinified traditionally. The whites are fermented in oak barrels, with lees stirring.
The wines are aged in oak barrels in a vaulted cellar for between 10 and 12 months. They are then bottled at the property and stored for several months before being released on the market.
