Domaines et Vins de Propriété - Bourgogne
ESTATE
Pascal Chevigny inherited the family domaine from his father, Michel Chevigny, in 1984. It was originally established 3 generations ago by his maternal grandfather, Lucien, who planted the “Aux Champs Perdrix” vines in Vosne-Romanée (situated at proximity of the “La Tâche” and “Romanée-Conti” Grand Cru vineyards, which produce some of most highly prized and expensive wines in the world). Later on, Pascal's grandfather purchased some more vineyards in the Côte de Nuits district.
Pascal manage a vineyard, most of which are favourably situated on the slopes, notably the “Les Petits Monts” Premier Cru and the “Combes Brûlées,” “Aux Champs Perdrix,” “Les Damaudes” parcels in Vosne-Romanée and “Les Hauts Pruliers” in Nuits Saint-Georges.
VINE GROWERS
Pascal Chevigny is a meticulous producer, whose quality-orientated approach and excellent winemaking skills result in wines that are on a par with the finest Vosne-Romanée Villages and Premiers Crus. He remains, nonetheless, a model of discretion.
With a “Coup de cœur” in the Hachette wine guide in 1992, 1993 and 1994 and a score of ***/**** in Parker's Wine Buyer's Guide, Pascal Chevigny can be considered, in a way, to be in a class of his own.
WINE MAKING
Red wines are aged in oak barrels (most of which are new) in a cellar in Nuits-Saint-Georges. White wines are vinified with lees stirring and aged in barrels in order to preserve their aromatic potential.
