<h1>Domaines et Vins de Propriété - Bourgogne</h1> <h2></h2> <h3>ESTATE</h3> Domaine A.F. Gros has a well earned reputation as being one of the top Domaines in Burgundy with holdings in many of the most prestigious Appellations of the Côte d'Or. In typical Burgundian fashion, the Domaine was established by acquiring vineyards through inheritance and marriage. In 1988, Anne-Françoise Gros acquired several parcels in Vosne-Romanée from her parents, Jean and Jeannine Gros, whose domaine was initially known under the name Gros-Renaudot, followed by Louis Gros and then Jean Gros. Around the same time, Anne-Françoise purchased a Domaine in Flagey-Échezeaux. Later, with her husband (François Parent of Pommard), they purchased vineyards in Savigny-Les-Beaune, Monthelie and Chambolle-Musigny, as well as some vineyards in Pommard that François Parent inherited from his family. Being the 13th generation of winemakers in his family, François Parent continues to earn a reputation as one of the stars of Burgundy. The wines he makes from his wife's vineyards are highly extracted, displaying layers of Pinot Noir fruit, while still possessing an elegance and depth that truly sets them apart, earning these wines recognition the world over. Although the domaine is situated in Pommard, most of its vineyards are located in Vosne Romanée. <h3>VINE GROWERS</h3> Anne-Françoise Gros continues a long tradition of wine-making in her family that dates back several hundred years. With her husband François Parent, she makes top quality wines which have made her become one of the most prestigious names in Burgundy. <h3>WINE MAKING</h3> The grapes are manualy harvested and sorted twice : in the vineyard and later in the winery where they are de-stemmed. Cold maceration, depending on the quality of the harvest. Traditional vinification at controlled temperature for 14 to 18 days with puming-over and punching of the cap. Pneumatic pressing. The wine is being let settle in stock vats before being transfered into oak barrels for ageing. 30% to 50% of the wine is put in new barrels, 100% for the Grands Crus. <h3>REWARDS</h3> Guide Hachette
